A Pole

Imagine a long pole in your palm.

You try to keep it in balance.

It is difficult.

You hold it with your other hand.

Still, the pole moves.

You stick the pole in ground, like a tree.

Less frequently, but it still falls.

You push deeper, and deeper, and deeper.

Now it is half above the surface and half underground.

It is stable but it can still be moved.

Push even deeper, and deeper.

Until you cannot see it,

Cannot even feel it with the bottom of your foot.

Now it does not move.

It cannot move.

The earth will move.

That will not.
